To strengthen its leadership position in the digital camera market, Sony India recently has launched 11 new digital still cameras in the market.

The newly launched digital still cameras come packed with newest technologies, and are available in the price range between Rs 7,990 and Rs 29,990.

Video-game publishers are pressurizing Sony Corp to take its pick out of two alternatives - one, lower the price of its PlayStation 3 console; and two, face the possibility increased development funds going Nintendo Wii's way! At its starting price of $399.99, the PS3 is $150 more than Wii and $200 more than the most-economical Xbox 360.

According to analyst Mike Hickey, of Janco Partners Inc. in Greenwood Village, Colorado, even though Sony has thus far stood unyielding against calls for lower price, there is likelihood that it might trim the price of PS3 by $50-$100 in the near future.

The ongoing BCCI-Sony controversy, over sponsorship deals for IPL matches, paves a way for resignation of Sony Entertainment CEO, Kunal Dasgupta. BCCI, while tightening noose around Sony, also threatened to terminate the broadcaster's IPL rights if its losses are not met by the broadcaster. BCCI believes that deal of Airtel with Sony is the main reason for walked out of Reliance-ADAG, leading large scale revenue loss to the cricket control body.

It has recently come to vision that Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG)-controlled BIG TV has withdrawn from partnering the Indian Premier League (IPL). The reason behind the withdrawal is the discrimination by the league's broadcast rights-holder Sony Entertainment Television (SET).

IPL CEO Sundar Raman was the one who received the BIG TV's decision, who alleged that SET has decided to provide the contract to competitor Airtel DTH, though it quoted a lower price for on-air partnership, sources close to the development told Business Standard.
