Discovery of 22 Million Digits Long Prime Number nonplusses Mathematicians

We all know that a prime number is a natural number greater than one, and doesn’t have positive divisors other than one and itself, but what is the largest-known prime number? An American researcher has nonplussed every with a mind-bending discovery of the largest-known prime number.

According to the researcher, Dr. Curtis Cooper from the University of Central Missouri, the digit is (274207281)-1. The newly found number is about 22 million digits long. Cooper said the digit is so that it may take some days just to read it if written on papers. The researcher conducted the new experiment with the help of volunteers, who started a collaborative project and used called GIMPS (Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search) to discover prime numbers.

The bush dogs, weighing about 4.5 kilograms, usually found in Central and South America, but the creatures live far from human eye and spend about half of their day underground in burrows.

But a new two-legged meat-eating dinosaur that scientists have unearthed from Wales is far more astounding: It could be the oldest Jurassic dinosaur in the world. After analyzing the remains, the scientists have concluded that the dinosaur, dubbed as Dracoraptor, roamed earth around 200 million years ago, during the beginning of the Jurassic period.

Oldest evidence of Prehistoric massacre found in Kenya

The man-versus-man fight is not a recent affair as researchers claim to have found the oldest evidence of human warfare dating back around 10,000 years. The fossils of a band of people probably massacred by rivals with various weapons, including arrows, clubs and stone blades, have been discovered on the shores of a lagoon in Kenya.

The fossil site is called Nataruk, which is 20 miles west of Lake Turkana in northern Kenya. In all, the remains of 27 people -- 21 adults and six children, most under age 6 -- have been found from a Stone Age hunter-gatherer culture.

The site was discovered by researchers from the Cambridge University's Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies. Among the fossils are 12 relatively complete skeletons, some of them showing clear signs of violence.

The Research of Ben Bromley, a physics and astronomy professor, was published in a California Institute of Technology’s paper. The research speculates the possibility of the existence of an isolated planet that orbits the sun on an elongated path, with the planet likely to be thousands of times bigger than Pluto. Though this is not the first time that the possibility of another planet has been brought up, his study has increased the standards of the evidence that a large ’Planet X’ does exist somewhere in a distant location of the solar system.

Norwin School District to start stocking anti-opioid drug Naloxone

Westmoreland County’s Norwin School District is going to start stocking the anti-opioid drug Naloxone, also called Narcan, in its school nurses’ offices in the beginning of this year. According to Superintendent William Kerr, training for coaches, nurses, and administrators is planned for February.

The number of deaths led by opioid overdose in the area continues to skyrocket, due to which an increasing number of school districts has started keeping the drug on hand. According to the website OverdoseFreePA, since 2009, the number of heroin-related overdose deaths in Westmoreland County has doubled.
