According to the reports, Nicolas Gueguen and Celine Jacob of the Universite de Bretagne-Sud, along with Lubomir Lamy of Universite de Paris-Sud, set up a study in which 87 young women each spent time in a waiting room with background music playing either a love ballad or a neutral tune.

Their study adds to the body of evidence suggesting drinking may inflict physical aggression, said Thor Norstrom of the Swedish Institute for Social Research at Stockholm University in Sweden and Hilde Pape of the Norwegian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Research in Oslo, Norway.

The study is based on self-reported data from a general population survey of 3,000 young people in Norway, assessed once at ages 16-17 and again at ages 21-22.

It has been reported that study leader Dr. Antoinette Laskey, an associate professor of pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and colleagues analyzed death certificate data from Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Oklahoma and Washington.

Published online ahead of the July print issue of The Journal of Pediatrics, the study found children to be equally at risk of homicide death during any month of the year.
