Mumbai, June 20 : Indian equities markets Monday crept up after plummeting sharply in the morning session with a benchmark index trading 1.49 percent lower, about 90 minutes before closing bell.

Reports of India resuming talks on a tax treaty with Mauritius had triggered a panic selling in the morning market.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,060.17 points, fell over 556 points to an intra-day low of 17,341.38 points.

New Delhi, June 20 - Telecom giants Bharti Airtel and Vodafone added 2.45 million subscribers each in May, industry data showed. The month saw a net addition of 9.53 million GSM subscribers in the country.

The total number of GSM subscribers in India crossed 590.2 million in May as against 580.67 million in April, according to the data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

The 68-year-old is attending TV interviews, radio shows and press conferences to promote the movies and is under medication to curb the infection.

Mumbai, June 20 - It seems Yash Chopra's next directorial venture is going to be a musical treat. After collaborating with music maestro A. R. Rahman, he has now roped in ace lyricist Gulzar for his movie and is quite excited about it.

"Though he has been associated with Yash Raj Films earlier, this is the first time that I will be working alongside Gulzar Bhai," the veteran filmmaker said in a statement.

Mumbai, June 20 - Indian equities markets Monday started the trading week on a very negative note as reports of India resuming talks on a tax treaty with Mauritius triggered a panic selling.

Over the weekend, a senior Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) official was quoted as having said that India and Mauritius officials are expected to meet soon to work out the details of the new Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement.

India receives over 40 percent of its foreign direct investment through companies and funds registered in Mauritius.
