Indian Rupee Increases by 3 PaiseOn the 15th of July 2011, the Indian rupee is reported to have increased by 3 paise, though it still was relatively unmoved in following minute gains in the euro abroad.

Also, the rupee started at Rs. 44.53 per dollar and went up to 44.47 following the positive start of domestic shares, as local equities dropped to a lower terrain within the first hour of the trade taking the domestic currency down to 44.53 during the day. Hence, the rupee was last seen trading at 44.51, which had a slight change, when compared to previous close.

The euro is reported to be more or less steady of recent in Asia, as investors retained the ‘single common currency on checking’ in preceding the ‘Europe-wide stress tests’ on 90 banks later during the day.

However, the US dollar index which rates the performance of the U. S. unit against a basket of 6 currencies fell from 0.17% to 75.13, and among Asian currencies, the Taiwan dollar experienced a loss of 0.19% at 28.87, the Indonesian Rupiah 0.05% at 8538.75 while the South Korean gained 0.10% at 1057.43 against the US dollar.

At present, the rupee is between Rs 44.47 and Rs 44.55 per dollar, while the dollar watches its losses against major competitors’ increase, after Standard & Poor's Ratings Services put US sovereign ratings on formal credit, observed and warned of about a 50-50 chance for a drop.
