GCPL Q1 net up 8% at Rs 143.45 cr

GCPLNew Delhi: FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) on Monday reported 8 percent increase in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014 at Rs 143.45 crore. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 132.71 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal.

Consolidated net sales during the period under review stood at Rs 1,886.26 crore as against Rs 1,722.30 crore in the year-ago period.

The board has declared an 100 percent interim dividend of Re 1 on share of face value Re 1, the company said in a statement.

Keyline Brands Ltd, a UK based subsidiary of Godrej, will acquire Soft & Gentle brand from Colgate-Palmolive, the company said in a statement. The Indian company did not announce the financial details of the deal. The company also said that Soft & Gentle reported sales of 21 million pounds in 2011 and it was UK's fourth largest female deodorant brand by market share.

Godrej eyeing acquisitions in Asia, Africa

Godrej Consumer ProductsKolkata, April 7 : Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) Thursday said it was looking for acquisitions in Asia, Africa and South America.

"If you ask about our company's stand in terms of overseas acquisitions, we are looking at right opportunities in basically three continents - Asia, Africa and South America," GCPL's executive vice president (marketing) Tarun Arora told reporters.

The company was focussing on home care, hair care and personal wash categories, he said.

Godrej Consumer Products combines arm by self

Godrej-ConsumerFMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL) Thursday expressed that it is combining Godrej Household Products Ltd. (GHPL) with itself, creating it one of the major players in the personal care and household insecticides section.

No shares shall be released post-merger as GHPL is a wholly-owned part of the corporation, the company stated in a regulatory filing.

GHPL, which was earlier known as Godrej Sara Lee, had lately obtained 51 % stake of the business by its foreign partner Sara Lee.

It has informed that the profit after tax of the firm has gone up to Rs 116 crore for the quarter that ended in 30th June, 2010. There has been a significant rise in profit-after-tax and net sales figure of the company.

GCPL had posted a net profit of Rs 69.46 crore for the similar quarter in the previous financial year. Godrej Consumer Products Ltd has informed this in a filing at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The net profit has touched Rs. 284 crore for the year. The company has managed to enhance its net profit with a fall in the operating costs.

The Mumbai based company has informed that the net sales has improved by 17% and has reached Rs 1,268 crore in the financial year. At the same time the cost of the company has been reduced to 4% i. e. of Rs 215 crore. Moreover the net profit of the fourth quarter has went up by 12.5% to Rs63 crore.
