ABVP launches a movement against Bangladeshi immigrantsJalandhar (Punjab), Nov 12 : Activists of, a students wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launching its nationwide movement against the Bangladeshi immigrants called for a shutdown of colleges in Jalandhar In Punjab on Wednesday.

The activists, in an attempt to garner the support of the students, urged schools and colleges in Jalandhar to shutdown.

Daler allowed to use passport

Daler allowed to use passportA local court in Patiala allowed Bhangra-pop singer Daler Mehndi to use his passport for traveling abroad.

Mehndi was accused of human trafficking in September 2003. It was alleged that he was taking money to include people in his musical group and help them to migrate illegally to other countries.

Mehandi's lawyer on Monday told the court Mehndi had several stage performances in abroad and for that he requires his passport. He said that Mehndi had been attending all court hearings in Patiala. Mehendi was present in the Court on Monday.

Danger of dengue still prevalent in Ludhiana

Danger of dengue still prevalent in Ludhiana35 fresh cases of dengue were reported in Ludhiana. These new cases revealed that despite the various steps taken by government authorities to prevent dengue, fresh cases of dengue are pouring in at various hospitals across the city everyday. 

The overall number of cases has touched the 3,500 mark with over 400 cases put in the suspected cases category and over 1,000 patients being treated at the hospitals in the city hailing from other parts of the state.

Hans Raj Hans joins SADCelebrated Singer, Padam Shree Hans Raj Hans joined Shiromani Akali DAl (SAD) on Sunday. And in return the party has awarded him a ticket to fight the Lok Sabha polls from for Jalandhar (Reserve) parliamentary constituency.

"Hans Raj Hans has formally joined SAD today and he will be party's candidate from Jalandhar (reserve) constituency", Sukhbir Badal party President, accompanied by Hans, announced at a Press Conference.

Abohar exhibition seeks to preserve Punjab’s historical perspectives

PunjabAbohar, Nov. 8 : Punjab''s rich rural heritage is generally feared to be fading due to the impact of modern science and technology. Recently, in Abohar, an attempt was made to preserve the glorious past of Punjab through a special exhibition.

Over 150 students from different colleges participated in an exhibition, which was an attempt to help in "Exploring Historical Perspectives on Pluralistic Society and Polity in Punjab".

The exhibition was held at the DAV College in Abohar.
