Bathinda City today boasts of having Asia''s biggest railway junction and one of the biggest food-grain and cotton markets in India.

The government plans to set-up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for textile, a domestic airport, an air-conditioned bus terminal-cum-commercial complex, a flying academy and a cricket stadium.

Security matters to dominate India-Pakistan home secretary talks

The retailer plans to open 15 carry-and-carry centers in various states in seven years and employ 5,000 people.

North-Indian sports industry feels the heat of global recession

PunjabJalandhar (Punjab), Nov 22 : Sports industry of Jalandhar in Punjab, which has a turnover of around 20 billion rupees, is reeling under the intense heat of global recession.

The industry, which is into manufacturing sports accessories of games like cricket, hockey, football and volleyball, started in late 40''s of the 20th century and has nearly
1000 units with almost 50,000 workers involved directly or indirectly.

Forty per cent of the produce is exported while the rest is sold in the domestic markets.

Pig and Turkey farming gaining popularity in Punjab

Punjabi Durbar unaware of festival at Nankana Saheb

Pak Radio says Punjabi losing its ground in East PunjabAmritsar, Nov. 18 : Radio Pakistan’s latest installment of Punjabi Durbar programme was oblivious of the festival being celebrated at Nankana Saheb where pilgrims in their thousands visited the birthplace of Guru Nanak.

The programme producer was also not aware that both Sikhs and Hindus visited the Golden temple to pray there.
