American adults have 6.5 years older heart than their actual age

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has made a shocking revelation in its report. It has unveiled that average American man has a heart that is 7.8 years older than his chronological age and in the case of women, it is 5.4 years higher.

Public health experts working on the Framingham Heart Study have come up with the idea of a heart age. The concept was developed with an aim to help people know their risk of suffering from a heart attack, stroke, chest pain and another heart-related condition.

The American Heart Association shared that nearly 800,000 Americans lose their lives from heart-related condition every year. The cost of these illnesses is around $320 billion annually.

Exercise may reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease happens due to the death of certain brain cells leading to a brain energy crisis. Researchers from the University of Montreal have found remedy in exercise, which can act as a preventative measure for the cells burnout.

Parkinson’s disease’s symptoms include tremors. It affects movements and is the disease that develops gradually. The disease is also related to the degeneration of the basal ganglia of the brain. According to the National Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, around 1.5 million Americans are affected by the disease.

Sleeping Six hours or less makes you vulnerable to catch cold

Not having proper amount of sleep can take a toll on your health. A new study has found that people who sleep six hours or less in night are four times more likely to catch cold than the ones who enjoy night’s sleep of more than 7 hours.

Study’s lead researcher Aric Prather from the University of California-San Francisco said that in their research they have recruited 164 volunteers. The researchers measured their normal sleep habits with a watch-like sensor for seven nights.

Omega-3 supplements may not lower cognitive decline

A new study has found that fish oil supplements known as omega-3 will not reduce mental decline. The study findings are different from many observational studies carried out in the past that states that the supplements are beneficial.

Study’s lead researcher Emily Chew has said that in their study, they have not found any benefit of omega-3 supplements for preventing cognitive decline. The researchers found no difference in the cognitive score of people taking fish oil compared with the placebo group after five years.

Dr Chew, deputy clinical director at the National Eye Institute, also said that cognitive decline may take place over the years. But their study did not continue that long. He said that short-term supplementation given after it is too late may not prove effective.

A number of health experts think both marijuana and cigarette are injurious to health, but many college students in the United States do not agree with the experts. A new study released on Tuesday found that more US college students are smoking weed than students in last 35 years.

According to the study published in Monitoring the Future, it surveyed the drug use of about 1,500 college students and found that 5.9% of them use marijuana almost daily. While talking to USA Today College, Lloyd Johnston, the principal investigator of the study, said the figures are rising because people think marijuana is less harmful than cigarette, which is not correct.
