A large collection of spiders, scorpions and dead snakes were kept for research at a research center in Sao Paulo of Brazil. This was destroyed in fire.

The specimens were kept at the Butantan Institute. The curator of the Butantan Institute has said that this accident has been a great loss to science and research. He has said that about 80,000 preserved snakes and many species of spiders and scorpions were being used for the research program.

A new cooking gas alarm and SMS system has been developed by a group of young innovators, technologists and engineers that aims to prevent fire accidents due to gas leaks.

The system deploys a gadget developed by a Bhubaneswar-based company 'Robotic Wares' that sends an SMS to the owner's mobile phone in case of a gas leak. The system can detect leaks either from stove or the rubber pipe.

Alliance Boots Plc, a European pharmacy and beauty products company, announced today that it's trading profit for the year ended on March 31 crossed £1 billion.
