Kolkata, Oct 2 : ''Nano Car'' that has been raising a lot of dust on the land allotted to the TATA''s at Singur, has found its way to a makeshift tent in Kolkata.

With the hugely popular five-day festival of ''Durga Puja'' just round the corner the organisers in Kolkata have come out with a unique idea to press their demand to let TATA''s continue at Sindur.

Durga Puja is the time when devotees flow in large numbers and offer prayers to the goddess of supreme power, Durga.

Theme based Pandals and magnificently designed idols form an integral part of the festival.

East Midnapore (West Bengal), Oct. 1 : Believe it or not, there are 347 ‘elected’ Prime Ministers in East Midnapore district of West Bengal.

The ‘Prime Ministers’ hold ‘Cabinet meetings’ at local primary schools, and take decisions. The issues concern the social and health awareness programmes sponsored by the Ramkrishna Mission and UNICEF.

The programme’s objective is to inculcate qualities of leadership in children and train them to enable help them take important decisions in future.

Various schools in 25 Gram Panchayats in 25 Blocks were chosen for the School Cabinet Project.

The unpredicted events which occurred as a protest against setting up of Nano Plant at Singur really disappointed the Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF), since this ‘Rs 1 lakh car’ project taken up by Tata motors had given immense hope to foundry industry located at West Bengal, to develop a correlation with Tata motors. 

With the aim to display and exhibit the abilities and capacity of foundry industry and its suppliers, IIF would soon be holding an exhibition along with IFEX-2009, titled the 57th Indian Foundry Congress.

Siliguri (West Bengal), Sep. 30 : With the Durga Puja just a week away, various community Puja committees in West Bengal wish to fascinate maximum number of crowds to visit their decorative Pandals (makeshift temples).

To add maximum attraction to their respective pandals, Puja committees usually try novel modes for distinction.

Sarada Sevak Sangha Durga Puja Committee, one of the oldest clubs of Siliguri city in Darjeeling District, is taking services of sand artist from Orissa to make a sculpture of Durga for their pandal.

TATA Motors have almost decided to leave Singur. But the controversy does not seemed to end. The cadre of both CPI and Trinamool Congress are mobilizing their supporters near the controversial project site at Singur. 

The probability of clash between two cadres can not be ruled out. The CPM activists held a huge rally near Chandanpur, which is a strong base of Trinamool Congress. 

New Delhi, Sept 26: In a last-ditch effort to salvage the Nano car project, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has written to Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata urging him not to shift the project from Singur.

Bhattacharjee in his letter to Ratan Tata said no more disruptions would occur. “We assure you of police protection,” he said.

The West Bengal Government is awaiting Ratan Tata’s response.
