''Nano'' makes its way to a makeshift tent in Kolkata
Kolkata, Oct 2 : ''Nano Car'' that has been raising a lot of dust on the land allotted to the TATA''s at Singur, has found its way to a makeshift tent in Kolkata.
With the hugely popular five-day festival of ''Durga Puja'' just round the corner the organisers in Kolkata have come out with a unique idea to press their demand to let TATA''s continue at Sindur.
Durga Puja is the time when devotees flow in large numbers and offer prayers to the goddess of supreme power, Durga.
Theme based Pandals and magnificently designed idols form an integral part of the festival.
The ''Durga Puja'' organizing committee has designed its ''pandal'' or makeshift tent in the shape of the Tata plant and has also made a replica of the world''s smallest car, Nano.
The organizers believe that this gesture would help them to emphasize the public demand to roll ''Nano'' from West Bengal.
“We have made this Pandal so that we can spread a message across that the industries that have been closed should be reopened and those who have been left unemployed should be re-employed. After that we demand that the Rs. One-lakh- car, Nano should be manufactured and sold from West Bengal, said Pradip Ghosh, the president, Santosh Mitra Square Sarbojanin Durgotsav Committee, Kolkata.
For the past few months the Tata motor''s Nano project has been in the headlines because of a political row.
Though the ruling State government has time and again shown its interest in the upcoming project, Trinamool Congress the leading opposition party of the State has been demanding return of land to farmers allotted to the company. This forced the Tata''s to even shut down their Nano plant at Singur, temporarily.
The issue being raised in the form of a makeshift tent is a unique endeavor by the people to press their demand. (ANI)
