Islamabad, Apr. 9 : The increasing influence of the Taliban in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan can be judged from the fact that it has now established an FM radio station in the Darra AdamKhel region to air its own set of rules.

In the first of the announcements made from the illegal radio station, the Taliban has banned divorce without their consultation, and also barred people from using naswar (snuff), The Nation reported.

Islamabad, Apr. 9 : After establishing their writ over the Swat Valley, the Taliban is looking to take Islamabad under its grip.

According to The Nation, a Taliban commander has warned that the outfit would take their war to the capital city to retaliate against the continuous US drone strikes against them.

"The day is not far when Islamabad will be in the hands of the Mujahideen," Taliban commander Mullah Nazeer Ahmed said.

Islamabad  - A suspected US missile strike killed four Taliban militants Wednesday in Pakistan's tribal region near the Afghan border, an intelligence official said.

Two back-to-back missiles fired by a pilotless drone aircraft hit a vehicle in Ganjikhel area of South Waziristan tribal district, a stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants lunching cross-border attacks on US-led international forces in Afghanistan.

Islamabad, Apr 8 : President Asif Ali Zardari today expressed Pakistan's firm commitment to fighting extremism, and vowed to never give in to the militants and extremists.

Talking to a US Congressional delegation led by Senator John Kyl at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Zardari said the fight against extremism cannot be won only through military means alone.

Zardari said military was only one aspect of the solution and the government has resorted to a strategy of dialogue with reconcilable elements that are willing to give up violence.

Islamabad, Apr 8 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has rejected the presence of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Balochistan.

"It is not our perception that the al-Qaeda chief is in any part of our country," The News quoted Gilani, as saying.

About the threat posed by Baitullah Mehsud, the Prime Minister said the government was fully aware of its responsibility towards the people and the nation and would take its own appropriate measures.

Islamabad, Apr 8 : Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Azam Khan Swati has said that US policies aim to dismantle Pakistan, neutralise Iran and contain China to make India a regional superpower to achieve her objectives.

He further said that NATO's presence in the region was a great threat to the very existence of Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Iran as well.
