Holbrooke criticizes shallow US intelligence on Taliban in AfghanistanIslamabad, Apr. 8 : President Barack Obama's special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke, has expressed dissatisfaction over the shallow US intelligence about the creation and recruiting powers of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

"I am deeply, deeply dissatisfied with the degree of knowledge that the United States government and our friends and allies have on this subject," the Dawn quoted Holbrooke, as saying.

Archaeologists find earthenware pottery from 7000-2000 BC in PakistanIslamabad, April 8 : Archaeologists have recently found earthenware pottery from 7000-2000 BC, in excavations that took place at Sohr Damb/Nal, a prehistoric site in Balochistan, a province in Pakistan.

According to a report in the Daily Times, the finding was made by Dr Ute Franke, a German archaeologist, who has been following the prehistoric sites in Balochistan since 1981.

Mystery surrounds ISI chief’s top US officials snub

Islamabad, Apr. 8 : Pakistan Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, reportedly refused to meet the US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen.

According to sources, Lt. General Pasha decided not to meet the top US officials in protest against allegations leveled by Washington against ISI the in recent times.

The Director General of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Athar Abbas, however, refuted report.

The News quoted him as saying that Lt. General Pasha was present at the meeting between Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and the US officials.
