Tokyo, Sept.29 : Popular yoga guru Baba Ramdev is making waves among Japanese visiting the ongoing Namaste India 2007 festival in Tokyo.

Baba Ramdev interacted with several groups of Japanese, giving yoga lectures and demonstrations. Prominent among those who interacted with him were members of Pasona, Japan’s multibillion-dollar HR Company.

London, Sept.29 : Over 100,000 old books previously unavailable to the public will go online thanks to a mass digitisation programme at the British Library.

According to the BBC, the programme will focus on 19th Century books, many of which are unknown as few were reprinted after first editions. The library believes online access to the titles will help teachers.

"We have also ensured that this time we will not have paper badges. We have security and electronic bands which are given to the security staff who are in the stadium apart from the policemen," said B.N.S. Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bangalore.

Washington, Sept 29 : A three-year study has revealed that the adding ultrasound to mammography can help find more cancers than mammography alone. However, the procedure also substantially increases the number of false positives.

The study, which was presented on September 28 at the American College of Radiology’s fall meeting in Washington, D.C., was conducted by Wendie A. Berg, M.D., Ph.D., of American Radiology Services.

Washington, Sept 29 : Go right ahead and reach for that slice of white bread, for a researcher from the University of Virginia insists that the theory that eating so-called “bad” carbohydrates will make you fat is all hogwash.

Professor Glenn Gaesser insists that the latest common wisdom on carbohydrates is “just nonsense”.

Gaesser came to his conclusion after analysing peer-reviewed, scientific research on carbohydrate consumption, glycemic index and body weight.
