Gunmen kill head of radio station in Somalia

SomaliaMogadishu - Gunmen shot dead the director of Radio Shabelle in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Sunday, making him the fifth journalist to be killed this year in the lawless Horn of Africa nation.

Hasan Mohamed Osman, a reporter at the radio station, told the German Press Agency dpa that Muktar Mohamed Hirabe was gunned down while walking in the Bakara market area, a notorious insurgent stronghold.

A fellow Radio Shabelle journalist, Ahmed Omar Hashi-Ahmed Tajir, was also wounded in the attack.

17 percent of eligible voters.

Almost 21 per cent of eligible voters had cast their ballots by the end of the first day of voting during the last European Parliament elections, held in 2004.

On Sunday, the last day of voting, polling stations were scheduled to close at 10 pm (2000 GMT).

According to the New York Daily News, Murray, who was referred to as ''Cape Man'' by his neighbors in Saratoga County, New York, was arrested in Laughlin, Nevada on Friday, ending a nationwide manhunt.
