‘The Martian’ Is Based on Innate Human Desire to Help Each Other Come What May

'The Martian', one of the most anticipated movies of the year, hits the screen this weekend. On first glance, the movie appears to be a typical adventure/rescue flick with a little desperate survival thrown in for good measure. But a deeper look will make a viewer realize that it is something more than this.

The movie is based on innate human desire to help each other, no matter what, and it has the potential to be absolutely glorious. The character of Mark Watney played by Matt Damon isn't a character who is going to collapse under the strain of being left alone on mars.

There is no hunting or self-defense shown in the movie nor it shows a traditional action-hero-style survivalist rather shows the dedication and willpower of the man who is left alone on Mars.

Scientists Blame Massive Volcanic Eruptions for Violent Mass Extinction That Killed Dinosaurs

Since long we have been blaming an asteroid for the sudden and violent mass extinction of dinosaur nearly 66 million years ago. But it seems asteroid is not the only one to be blamed after a recent study revealed that massive volcanic eruptions around the same time the asteroid hit together resulted in extinction of countless species.

The study's findings presented in the journal Science join together two long-held theories about what killed the dinosaurs. The Deccan Traps in India features layers upon layers of volcanic rock and are the long-solidified remains of one of the world's truly enormous volcanic eruptions.

NASA’s New Horizons Catches New High-Resolution Observations of Pluto’s Moon Charon

After revealing several mysterious facts about the dwarf planet Pluto, NASA's New Horizons mission now is ready to explore Pluto's largest moon. The agency said that the spacecraft has even captured some new high-resolution images of the moon.

The agency said the images of Charon that have been recently transmitted show some extraordinary images of the moon. The images show never-before-seen details in the moon's landscape that testament a savagely violent history.

The latest pictures released Thursday illustrate Charon as a complex world covered in ridges, canyons, mountains and different colors.

Medicare paid $30 million for ambulance rides for which no record exists

Medicare has spent $30 million on ambulance rides, but there are no existing records mentioning that patients received medical care at their destination, the place where they were picked up from or other important information. As per a federal audit, released on Tuesday, the mystery ambulance rides belongs to a bigger problem with Medicare payments for transporting patients.

The Department of Health and Human Services' inspector general's office has also discovered that a number of urban ambulance services have received money for an average distance of over 100 miles per ride, which is contrary to a national average of only 10 miles for urban ambulance rides.

PBF’s purchase of Exxon Mobil Corp’s Refinery Marks Its Entry in California Market

PBF Energy Inc's purchase of Mobil Corp's California refinery marks Chairman Tom O'Malley's biggest bet on US refining in the country's toughest market. Under the $537.5 million deal PBF will buy Exxon's 55,000 barrels per day plant in Torrance with dock, storage and pipeline infrastructure.

California is isolated without having any good pipeline connections with rest of the country. Therefore, majorly the state is dependent on costlier foreign crude imports as output in California and Alaska is declining putting California refiners at a disadvantage relative to the US peers who can easily tap domestic oil.

Trump comments about Forbes Estimates over His Net Worth Again

Donald Trump took exception to the estimates of his net worth released by the Forbes magazine in its latest issue that showed him with nearly half the capital he originally has.

The magazine reported his net worth at $4.5 billion while the Republican candidate claimed that it originally turns out to be $10 billion.

"All I can say is Forbes is a bankrupt magazine, doesn't know what they're talking about," Trump posted. This is not the first encounter of Trump with the magazine. Earlier, in 1990, Forbes had recorded his net worth at $1.7 billion, which he claimed, was much lesser than his real worth of $3.7 billion.

This estimation came a year after the Republican was ranked 19th among the 400 richest Americans.
