The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), today crawled up around 80 points during noon on the back of strong signals from other Asian bourses.

The Sensex had hit 18,167.22 during morning, but dropped slightly in following sessions, with heavyweight Infosys dragging the stock index.

The Sensex, which belled the day at 18,024.95, was trading 79.41 points up at 18,065.31 as against its previous close at 17,985.9.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty stood at 5,422.35, up 0.4% as compared to its last closure at 5,400.65.

SS Netcom, the first IT solution company in the country's North Eastern region, is establishing an international call centre in Meghalaya.

SS Netcom Founder Conrad Sangma stated, "The client (an international IT company) is ready and we are in the process of streamlining the system."

In the Meghalaya Assembly, Mr. Sangma, a Wharton alumni, also serve as the youngest leader of opposition.

Piramal Healthcare Ltd announced that it has inked a definitive contract with Super Religare Laboratories Ltd (SRL) with the aim to sell its division Piramal Diagnostic Services Pvt Ltd (PDSL) to SRL.

According to reports, the deal is expected to be valued around Rs 600 crore.

Luxury car manufacturer BMW has introduced its 5 Series sedans from the Chennai facility.

The company said that the delivery in the Indian market will start by the July end.

In his lecture, Juergen Eder, BMW Plant Managing Director stated that deliveries of the new 5 Series at a cost between Rs 38.9 lakh and Rs 58 lakh (ex-showroom) will start by the end of this month.
