The member of Bank of England votes for raise in interest ratesA member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Bank of England has called to increase the interest rates for the very first time in next two years. A member named Andrew Sentance has called for a rise in interest rates to 0.75% from 0.5% due to the stubborn inflation.  

This was the first call for interest rise in UK by the MPC members since August 2008. The Bank of England has decided not to invest any more money into the economy of UK under its rule of quantitative easing, also called as QE.

The plans will be announced to scrap the default retirement age. According to the Pension minister Steve Webb and the Secretary of State Iain Duncan; this will be the first big announcement over the pension policy by the coalition government.

This statement came after a federal court of US lifted the ban of six months of drilling issued by the US president Mr. Barack Obama.

According to Mr. Salazar, the suspension of the drilling process is the best decision for this time.

The White House has already said that it would challenge the decision of the federal judge. The judge had blocked that ban saying that this much lengthy ban was invalid and it could have a great impact on the local business.

Polaroid CorporationA self-portrait of Andy Warhol was among the photos of the collection of Polaroid Corporation. This portrait was sold for 254,500 dollars at an auction in New York. It was one of the 1200 photos collected by the firm for sale.

The sale was due to an order of a court as the firm was bankrupt in the year 2009. The sale has produced 12.4 million dollars which was well above the pre sale estimation of 10.7 million dollars.

Pyramid Saimira Leading theater chain of the country, Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd has declared its fourth quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2009-10 and it has registered a loss this time. The company has posted a loss of Rs 5.20 crore for the quarter that ended in 31st March, 2010. The net profit of the firm was reported to be Rs 14.06 crore for the fourth quarter last year.

The company has made a net loss of Rs 8.77 crore in the nine-month period that ended on 31st March, 2010. For the same period last year, the company had made a net profit of Rs 37.84 crore.
