Mumbai, June 17 : A benchmark index for Indian equities markets slipped from early high Friday and was subdued while IT and telecom stocks weighed heavy on the broader markets.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,060.17 points, was ruling at 17,923.98 points -- down 61.9 points or 0.35 percent from its previous close at 17,985.88 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the red at 5,380.5 points, down 0.3 percent.

Toronto, June 17 : BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM)sank more than 15 percent during after-hours trading after Canada's top technology company released first-quarter results Thursday.

As Waterloo-based RIM posted a much-lower-than-expected net income of $695 million as compared to $934 million in the previous quarter, investors dumped the embattled icon, plunging its stock below $30 for the first time since 2006.

The first quarterly revenue of $4.9 billion is down 12 percent from $5.6 billion during the previous quarter.

Mumbai, June 17 : Composer Ram Sampath, who created a stir with the song "D. K. Bose" in the forthcoming film "Delhi Belly", says he wanted to reinvent the way music is used in Hindi movies.

Adult comedy "Delhi Belly", an Aamir Khan production venture that stars Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor, offers other experimental tracks like "Jaa chudail", "Nakkaddwale disco, udhaarwaley khisko", "Saigal blues" and "Switty tera pyaar chahida".

Manesar (Haryana), June 17:  The workers at auto major Maruti Suzuki's plant in this Haryana town called off their 13-day long strike, after an agreement was reached between them and the company management on the issue of a second union.

"The strike have been called off. The management and the 2,000-odd workers of Maruti have reached an understanding," Anil Kumar, general secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) told IANS.

Online hacker group, LulzSec has claimed responsibility for taking down the CIA’s Web site for a few hours.

The move comes after a series of breaches by the group of different business organizations. LulzSec, which dubs itself “the world’s leaders in high-quality entertainment at your expense,” posted an alert on Micro blogging site, Twitter: “Tango down — cia. gov — for the lulz.”

Westminster has said that it has signed a £190m pan-London IT framework with Virgin Media Business for the creation of a PSN-compliant Next Generation Network resource.

The new framework will provide a single platform for procuring phone, data, video, CCTV and Wi-Fi services for the public sector. Any public sector organization in London will be able sign up to the framework and save millions of pounds worth of savings.
