Obesity is a not a disease itself but it increases risk of various dangerous diseases. Sedentary lifestyle and fast food culture are the main reason behind rapidly multiplying number of obese persons. Statistics revealed that almost one in four Britons is obese.

'Be Active, Be Healthy', a new Government strategy has been designed to tackle the UK's obesity crisis. It aims at motivating people to live an active lifestyle to protect themselves from diseases.

Under this new strategy, GPs are being encouraged to prescribe patients exercise.

NHS is offering shopping vouchers to children who quit smoking and pregnant women who give up smoking. Supporters of the scheme claim that there is no harm in offering small incentive to help children leave this bad habit whereas people opposite to this scheme said this scheme might encourage children to smoke for sake of rewards.

Fats in limited quantity are necessary for proper functioning of human body. High levels of saturated fat in the diet can increase risk of heart and circulatory diseases, such as coronary heart disease, heart attacks, angina and stroke.

Saturated fat is found in dairy and red meat. 30g saturated fat in a day is enough for the average man and 20g saturated fat a day is enough for the average woman. Children aged 5-10 should eat no more than 20g of saturated fat per day. Recent data showed that children aged five have higher level of fat.

Due to inefficient management and slowdown in Aviation industry under the impact of global slowdown, Indian Railways, country's largest transporter, posted 13.17 increases in its revenue in the period between April 2008 and 2009.
 
Railways’ revenue stood at Rs 64,876.34 crore compared to Rs 57,327 crore in the same period last year. Railways posted 13.64% increase in freight and 11.82 per cent increase in passenger revenue, as per official statement of Railways Ministry.

The auto gaint launched new version of compact car, Spark, with price tag of Rs 3.27 lakh on Tuesday and announced to launch sedan, Cruze, and a mini car by the end of current financial year.

The ongoing world financial crisis impacted PC sales with leading computer manufacturers Intel and AMD estimated about 40 per cent decline in PC sales in the quarter ended December 31, 2008.

Earlier, Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT) and IDC forecasted steep decline in PC sales, clearly due to decline in demand in IT segment under the impact of global slowdown.
