BSNL Launches Web Conferencing Service In BangalorePublic sector telecom operator BSNL has launched its Web Conferencing that would permit audio, video and image transfer facility to its broadband customers.

Police commissioner Shankar Bidari inaugurated the BSNL Web Conferencing service in Bangalore on Monday.

While explaining the salient features of Web Conferencing, BSNL Karnataka Principal General Manager Subendu Ghosh stated that audio, video and image transfer could be done simultaneously through this new facility.

2500 doctors resigned in Orissa

Angry over the dismissal of three of their colleagues, who had allegedly cut off the palms of five tribals' nearly 2500 Government doctors in Orissa resigned en masse to protest the Government decision.

"The doctors have sent the mass resignation letters to the state health secretary, Anu Garg," Madhusudan Mishra, president of the Orissa Medical Service Association (OMSA), told.

OMSA has total of 3000 members. Remaining doctors would tender their resignation in a day or two he said.

The controversy of cutting palms erupted while these three doctors were performing autopsies on five tribals killed in police firing in kalinganagar industrial hub in Jajpur district, 120 Kms from Bhubaneswar.

Drunken Haryana cops kill innocent youth

In a shocking incident a group of drunken Haryana policemen had shot dead a 22-year-old college student returning home on Sunday night.

The youth Kuldeep Kumar, a BA final year student of Vaish College and a resident of Dabra colony, was shot from point blank range.

While Kuldeep was returning on bike from a party at his friend's place, the unruly policemen asked him to stop Tosham Chowk in Bhiwani. But when he did not stop he was shot in the temple with a service revolver.

As the news of fake encounter spread, local residents began pelting stones at the police at Ghantaghar Chowk and set afire a motorcycle.

BJP sweeps Council bypolls

The ruling BJP in Karnataka has won all the three seats in the bypolls held for the Legislative Council from local bodies constituencies.
This is seen as a crucial victory ahead of by-elections to eight assembly seats of State assembly.

BJP candidates-- former minister Sashikant Akkappa Naik won the Belgaum seat, while Shivraj Sajjanar was declared elected from Dharwad, and S G Medappa from Kodagu.

They all defeated their nearest congress rivals. Though the main opposition Congress got the support of JD (S) but it performed miserably in all the three seats.

JD(S) withdrew its nominees to support Congress candidates.
