80 kg of RDX used in Guwahati blasts

Nearly 80 kg of deadly RDX was used in the Guwahati blast alone.

According to officials of the forensic laboratory those explosives were used through three maruti cars planted at the blast site. Each of the cars were loaded with approximately 25 kgs of RDX.

"Such large quantity of RDX were never used to carry out explosions in Assam before as Ammonium Nitrate, with plasticers as propellants and Programmable Time Devices (PTD) were usually used to carry out a blast," said an official involved in the investigation process.

This was the maximum amount of explosive used for blasts in the state.
