‘Quantum of Solace’ smashes UK box office recordsThe latest James Bond flick, 'Quantum Of Solace', has smashed box office records on its opening weekend in the UK - taking £15.5m in three days. According to industry journal Screen Daily, Hollywood actor Daniel Craig's latest outing as James Bond took a further £14.2m in France and Sweden.

Taking £4.9m on Friday itself, the 22nd Bond film also surpassed the opening day figures of its predecessor, the previous Bond film, 'Casino Royale', which had made 2.9 million pounds on its first day. 'Casino Royale' - which marked Craig's debut as Ian Fleming's suave secret agent - took more than £50m at the UK box office.

Dailymail. co. uk reports that the movie's ticket sales on the opening day further shattered the previous record for a Friday opening held by "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire."

Directed by Marc Foster - of 'Monster's Ball' and 'Finding Neverland' fame - the film also stars Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton, Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giann.

'Quantum of Solace' opens in the US on November 14.
