Tata Teleservices launches location-based A-GPS service

Tata-TeleservicesA new, location-based service has been launched by Tata Teleservices Ltd on Monday. Called the 'Quickfinder Assisted Global Positioning System' (A-GPS) service, it aims at facilitating for the CDMA subscribers the pin down of locations of interest, and the en-route tracking of vehicles and consignments.

The latest offering from Tata Teleservices is powered by Qualcomm's 'QPoint' solution and 'gpsOne' technology incorporated into its chipsets. The Navigator application of the service will provide end-users with driving instructions, and information about the shortest route to a preferred destination.

UTV arm launches India’s first mobile music video channel ‘UTV@Play’ UTV New Media, a digital arm and subsidiary of UTV, has announced the launch of India's first mobile music video channel 'UTV@Play'.

According to the company, the facility is accessible by consumers with mobile accounts with Vodafone, BSNL, MTNL and Idea and users can download the application to access the content from a WAP portal.

The mobile channel is an extension of internet portal UTV@play and costs Rs10 per day or Rs 30 per month. UTV already offers a mobile service of its Bindass channel.

MTNL to launch 3G services in Mumbai by next month

MTNL to launch 3G services in Mumbai by next monthState-run telecom service provider MTNL intends to launch its third generation (3G) services in Mumbai next month as it targets a user base of 1,00,000 for the third generation mobile service by the year end.

The company has already embarked Rs 200 crore for building optic fiber networks in Delhi and Mumbai for providing fiber-to-the-home, or FTTH services.

The company had recently launched its 3G services `Jadoo' in central and some of parts of South Delhi. The company plans to expand its 3G services to the remaining parts of Delhi in the next two-three months.

ICICI Prudential launches ‘Target Return Fund’ICICI Prudential AMC, a joint venture between ICICI Bank - one of India's foremost financial services companies, and UK-based Prudential plc - a leading international financial services group, has announced the launch of an open ended equity diversified fund, called the 'ICICI Prudential Target Returns Fund' in the Indian market.

The fund seeks to generate capital appreciation by investing predominantly in equity shares of the large market capitalization companies constituting the BSE 100 index.

SBI Funds launches ‘Gold Exchange Traded Scheme’SBI Funds, a leading fund house of the country, has finally launched ‘SBI Gold Exchange Traded Scheme (SBI GETS) in the Indian market.

The investment objective of the fund is to seek and provide returns that closely correspond to returns provided by price of gold through investment in physical Gold.

According to official release, the scheme will invest 90%-100% in gold and gold bullion with medium to high risk profile and 0-10% in debt and money market instruments, with low risk profile.
