With the aim of hooking laptop users of small and medium-size companies, the Palo Alto, California-based Hewlett-Packard (HP) has launched the ProBook s-series - a new line of its low-priced business notebooks, with fresh features. The ProBook substitutes HP’s Compaq line, though the company will continue with the Compaq name a master brand name in its other PCs.

Kent RO Systems to enter low cost purifier segment, by next monthWater purifier manufacturer Kent RO Systems is all set to enter the estimated Rs 300 crore low-cost mass market water purifier segment.

According to latest reports it has revealed that, the company is set to launch a low cost purifier in the gravity storage water purifier segment next month.

The water purifier would be based on ultra filtration technology in which water filters through UF hollow membrane without using any chemical such as chlorine or bromine.

Skytone’s Android netbook - Alpha 680 - to hit markets within 3 months

skytoneWith China-based Skytone's Alpha 680 netbook sending ripples of excitement after its online spotting earlier this week by Computerworld blogger Seth Weintraub, Skytone's co-founder Nixon Wu has confirmed that the netbook is going through final testing process, and will hit the markets within three months.

Roughly priced at $250, the Alpha 680 will run on Google's Android operating system, and will make use of the economical and energy-efficient ARM processor - used in mobile phones, including iPhone - rather than the commonly-used Atom processor used in most netbooks.

Microsoft confirms release of Windows 7 RC on schedule – April 30

Microsoft Windows 7 Launch ConfirmedAccording to Microsoft’s late Friday confirmation, the much-awaited Windows 7 Release Candidate 1 will be released to early adopters on its schedule – April 30.  

Giving the latest news about the stable and completed code for Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, manager Brandon Le Blanc said in an official blog posting that while mass availability of the OS will begin from May 5, users who subscribe to Technet or Microsoft Download Network (MSDN) will be able to download the release candidate on April 30 itself.
