“This is the eighth sports bike I have owned and is the fastest one. I have been to Goa on this bike and it was one of my most memorable trips. I reached a top speed of 310 km/h once when I had taken the bike on the expressway. Speed is what I like and I would always prefer a sports bike instead of a cruise bike.”

Who am I?

I am Suzuki’s GSX-R1000, also known as the sports bike king. Some of my rivals come close, but all things considered, there’s just nothing on the market to touch my all-round brilliance. That makes me the best selling bike in the UK.

Look at her!

Into a working woman’s world, this week Misha Paul checks out how smart looks and a smarter attitude help women at work

She wore black thick framed glasses on her nearly squashed pink tinged nose. She was fair but had freckles to hide her skin tone under their weight. She was five feet, weighed 86 kilos and had a broad stature, but no body seemed to notice her. She had numerous qualifications against her name but no one wanted to rope her in. She couldn’t understand why, but do you?

A new kind of sign

Traditional mangalsutras are slowly being replaced by shorter lightweight versions

Working women are opting for shorter mangalsutras over the longer, more traditional variety. With several companies adhering to strict dress codes, it’s not always a viable option for women to wear long, heavy gold and black bead mangalsutras to the office.

Cashing in on the trend, several jewellery stores across the city have designed short, trendy mangalsutras to cater to the needs of these women.

SIZE ZERO IS OUT

Says fashion designer Leena Singh who gives us the highlights on trends for the upcoming season

Feminine shapes and silhouettes are stylish. Size zero is completely out.

Off-shoulders and one-shoulder dresses at the Oscars have set the trend for this season. Colours are expected to be more feminine and silhouettes — softer, dresses should be fitted, yet flowy.

Accessories are still big. Though, bling should not be restricted to just ear rings — loud necklaces can be used to accessorise simple attire. When it comes to sunglasses — the bigger the better.

Mera wala jeans! where are they?

An ill-fitting pair of jeans is the last thing a woman wants to be seen in. After jibes from well-meaning friends, Monica S Gatphoh goes brand hopping in the city, with disastrous results. Read on...

I know it’s sale season and some of my favourite brands are offering huge discounts. But this one time, I want a pair of jeans that fit, well, wickedly. Not that I want parts of me bursting at the seams. I want that vamp-but-still-decent-look.

I go to the neighbourhood Levi’s, pick a couple of jeans and get into the changing room only to emerge baffled. The waist size is alright, but whatever happened to the er... behind?

EU declares war on the online bullies

Brussels  - The torrent of abuse was triggered by a pair of new shoes. Alina bought them because her best friend Alex already had the same brand of footwear. Unfortunately, this did not go at all well with Alex who was quick to vent her anger.

Alina realised this when she logged in as usual onto SchuelerVZ - a popular social Internet platform in Germany for schoolchildren and their pals.

"You rotten bitch" was the post left behind on Alina's virtual notice board and before she knew what was happening, the girl found herself on the receiving end of a tirade of hatred.
