Soon Yamaha scooters to launch in the countryYamaha, The two-wheeler maker from Japan, announced plans to launch scooters in the Indian market.

Even with the exit of Bajaj Auto from the scooter segment, many like TVS Motor Company, Honda Motorcycle, Mahindra and Mahindra have indicated their interest in India’s scooter market.

A feasibility study is underway on the scooter market, where company believes market potential. The study is to complete by the middle of this year. The study focuses on the model to be introduced and timeframe for the launch.

Yamaha has made available three scooters -50 cc Neo, 115cc Fino and 135cc Spark- across selected dealers in India to measure the market response.

At the sidelines of Auto Expo 2010, Pankaj Dubey, the head of India Yamaha Motor National Business, said "We are studying the market to enter the scooter segment, but we have not finalised the product line yet. However, one thing is sure that we will launch scooters in India."
