Islamabad, Nov 24: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that he would not contest the forthcoming general elections.

Talking to newsmen along with Pakistan Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain here, Aziz said he had not applied for the party ticket.

He denied the rumors that he is leaving the country.

Aziz also denied the speculations that PML (Q) had refused to award him party ticket, and added that the party had offered him to contest elections from three constituencies.

Aziz said Chaudhry Shujaat has been his benefactor and he want to serve the nation some other way.

Earlier, the name of former Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz did not appear in the list of 109 finalised candidates for the National Assembly from Punjab.

The parliamentary board of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) finalised names of its candidates for 109 of the 148 general seats of the National Assembly from Punjab.

Sources said that Aziz wanted to contest from Kashmore in Sindh, but prominent politician Maqbool Sheikh has applied for the seat. (ANI)
