Sensex Pares Some Losses; ICICI Bank, Cipla, RIL DownThe 30-share index Sensex, which recovered some of its earlier losses, continued to trade in the pessimistic zone.

At 01:04 p. m., the BSE Sensex stood at 19,903.78, down 37.94 points (0.19%) with 16 components in the red zone.

In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty lost 24.45 points (0.41%) to trade at 5,966.55 with 30 components declining.

Today, the Sensex opened the day on a flat note after surging 2.58 points at 19,944.30.

On the other hand, the 50-share index Nifty belled the day at 6,008.40 after gaining 17.40 points.

The top gainers in the Sensex pack comprised ONGC, which surged 2.07%, Mahindra & Mahindra climbed 1.07%, Sterlite Industries (India) zoomed 0.84%, Hindalco Industries grew 0.66%, JP Associates gained 0.38% and Tata Motors remained up by 0.37%.

The losers list consisted of Bharti Airtel, which recorded a loss of 1.16%, RIL declined 1.15%, ICICI Bank fell 0.82%, Maruti Suzuki declined 0.74%, Cipla lost 0.69%, and HDFC was down by 0.63%.

The BSE Midcao index gained 0.18% and the BSE smallcap index remained up by 0.73%.

Among sectoral indices, the Consumer Durables index gained 41.48 points followed by the HC index, which surged 35.34 points and the PSU index climbed 38.61 points.

In contrast, the Real estet index slipped 26.08 points to trade at 3,642.21.
