Idea reports nearly 100% jump in quarterly net profitCellular network provider Idea on Thursday announced a year-on-year increase of nearly 100 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter of current financial year, thanks to strong growth in voice and mobile data business.

The company announced that its consolidated net profit jumped to Rs 462.71 crore in the April-June quarter of 2013, from Rs 234.14 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Law ministry to suggest ways to set up rail fare body

Manish-TewariNew Delhi, Aug 2 : The cabinet has asked the law ministry to suggest ways to set up an authority to fix rail fares, a minister said Friday.

According to Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari, the cabinet discussed the issue Thursday and asked the law ministry to suggest a road map.

He said there were two options before the government to set up such an authority -- through a legislative process or an executive order.

The consensus in the cabinet was on the executive order route.

Once the law ministry's recommendations come, it will go to the cabinet for consideration, said the minister.

Lawsuits against Shakira dismissed

Government to sell 10 percent stake in Indian Oil

“After this disinvestment the government of India share-holding in the company would come down to 68.92 percent,” the finance ministry said in a statement Friday.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday evening.
