Motorola Mobility, a unit of internet giant Google, has announced the launch of its new smartphone, Moto X in the crowded smartphone market.

Google has been successful in software and its Android platform has emerged as the dominant platform for the global smartphone market but it has not been able to attract significant number of customers to its hardware. The Moto X, which is the first major device since Google acquired the handset maker for $12.5 billion, might be able to boost the company's hardware sales.

Chicago, August 2 : US automaker Ford Motor Corporation has agreed to pay a penalty of $17.35 million because it did not notify the customers of a defect in a timely manner, media reported.

In 2012, Ford recalled about 423,000 Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute models made during the period of 2001-04 because the gas pedal could remain depressed even after the drivers removed their foot from the pedal, which could cause crashes.

However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Ford's recall "may have been untimely", Xinhua reported Thursday.

Mumbai, August 2 : After doing item number "Aila re aila" and movie "Grand Masti", model-actress Kainaat Arora is set to scorch the screen with another pulsating song in "Hate Story 2".

The actress will shoot for the song by the end of the month. It has been sung by Mamta Sharma of "Munni badnaam hui" fame and Ganesh Acharya will choreograph it.

"I worked with Ganesh for 'Grand Masti' title song and the experience was very good. This would be my second song with him. This one is an item song. It is a T-series film and it is a very big track," she told IANS.

New York, August 2 : Singer Kelly Rowland believes that music mogul Simon Cowell will be a "great dad".

Cowell, 53, is expecting a child with his friend Andrew Silverman's estranged wife, Lauren Silverman, who is 10 weeks pregnant. And Rowland, who co-judges the US version of "The X Factor" with Cowell, is thrilled for him.

"I think Simon will be a wonderful father. It's not my news to share, but I do know about Simon and his character. He's going to be a great dad," eonline. com quoted Rowland as saying.

"I think that he is always respectful. Always classy. And I think that he will be like that as a father. He will be a classic father figure," she added.

The 44-year-old was wearing a deep-plum figure-hugging strapless dress teamed up with stilettos, for the premiere Thursday, reports eonline. com.

"We're the Millers" is about a veteran pot dealer who creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of marijuana into the US from Mexico.

The actress' character in the film is called Rose O'Reilly, a stripper.
