Springfield city employees participated in National Walking Day. The event began with a rally where an official announcement for 'National Walking Day' was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Jerry Compton. The event was finished with a brief walk near government plaza.

Americans are being invited by the American Heart Association to take a brisk walk. According to Stephen Hall from the American Heart Association, "What we know is that for every hour of regular vigorous exercise, you can gain two hours to your life expectancy. That's a huge rate of return. Walking has the lowest dropout rate. It's free. It's accessible to people".

Teen, who received Heart Transplant two Years ago, dies in Accident

A heart transplant gave a second life to an Atlanta area teenager two years ago, but destiny had some other plans as he died this week in a car accident while fleeing police. His car hit a bank sign, a Roswell police officer wrote in an incident report.

Anthony Tremayne Stokes, 17, died on Tuesday after the police made an attempt to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop. The black Honda Accord appeared similar to the vehicle involved in a home invasion a short time earlier, said the officer.

The report also mentioned that the car had also been reported stolen in a carjacking in nearby Dunwoody earlier Tuesday.

Oil Heir Andrew Getty found Dead

Earlier in a court filing, oil heir Andrew Getty said that he suffered from a serious health problem that could put his life in danger. Now, Getty has been found dead and the health problem is supposed to be the reason for that.

The 47-year-old Getty wrote in a March 16 court document that had been diagnosed with a condition. Getty's grandfather J. Paul Getty made his family among the richest in the country's history. Getty did not specify the condition in the court document.

He wrote that his blood pressure was rising, which placed him in serious risk of substantial and irreparable injury or death. Coroner and police have not officially announced his death, but Getty's parents, Ann and San Francisco billionaire scion Gordon Getty, confirmed that Getty had died on Tuesday.

New Blood test can predict person’s severe allergic reactions to foods

According to a new study led by Mount Sinai researchers, a new blood test could predict which people have severe allergic reactions to foods.

Currently, physicians use skin prick tests or blood tests that measure levels of allergen-specific IgE (sIgE), a protein made by the immune system to detect food allergies. However, these tests are not cannot calculate the severity of allergic reactions.

The gold standard to signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction is Oral food challenge. Specific allergens are given to patients, which are consumed under physician supervision. However, these tests can themselves trigger severe reactions.

Online Access to Information Can Inflate One’s Own Sense of Intelligence: Study

Google almost has answer to every question one types in the search option of the search engine. But a recently conducted study suggested that instant online access to information can inflate people's sense of their own intelligence.

Study lead author Matthew Fisher, a doctoral candidate in psychology at Yale University, said in a statement that it becomes very easy to confuse own knowledge with external source.

"But when people are truly on their own, they may be wildly inaccurate about how much they know and how dependent they are on the Internet", he said.

Fisher and his team during the study had hundreds of people who were engaged in a series of experiments. In one of the experiment people were divided into group and were asked to answer random questions.

Hundreds of people sue Johns Hopkins University over STD Study

Hundreds of people, who were part of a sexually transmitted diseases (STD) study, sued Johns Hopkins University. According to reports, about 800 former research subjects infected with STD in Guatemala are looking for justice, while the private research university in Baltimore stated that people should not blame the university.

As per the reports, the experiment happened over 65 years ago. Attorneys of the victim said that it is the time to right a terrible wrong, while according to Johns Hopkins, it should be blamed for the experiment. The Guatemalan research was conducted in 1940s and '50s. Subjects in the experiment were found infected with syphilis and other STDs.
