New Delhi, Nov 14 : Farhan Akhtar has been appointed as the first ever male Goodwill Ambassador by UN Women, it has been revealed.

The 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' star known for his work as an actor, filmmaker and singer, will devote his efforts to promoting the empowerment of women and girls across South Asia.

The 40-year-old actor, who is running his own campaign against gender inequality named MARD, thanked UN for this honor.

Brisbane (Australia), Nov 14 : British Prime Minister David Cameron, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Brisbane on Friday, said that relations with New Delhi are a top foreign policy priority for his country.

Washington, Nov 14 : A new study has revealed that diets rich in whole walnuts or walnut oil slowed prostate cancer growth in mice.

Researchers at UC Davis and other institutions have found that both walnuts and walnut oil reduced cholesterol and increased insulin sensitivity and the walnut diet also reduced levels of the hormone IGF-1, which had been previously implicated in both prostate and breast cancer.

Lead scientist and research nutritionist Paul Davis said that while they are high in fat, their fat does not drive prostate cancer growth. In fact, walnuts do just the opposite when fed to mice.

New York, Nov 14 : ' Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer has said that she has been blessed to play sexy women on-screen.

The 32-year-old actress, who will now be seen in 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Part 1 and 2, asserted that she had been blessed to play women who were sexually competent, the New York Post reported.

Dormer will play the role of Cressida, a documentary filmmaker who turns Katniss played by Jennifer Lawrence into an icon of the revolution.

New Delhi - Continuing decline in food prices, including vegetables, pulled wholesale price inflation to a five year low of 1.77 percent in October.

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation was at 2.38 percent in September and 7.24 percent in October 2013.

As per data released by the government today, the food inflation fell to a nearly two-and-half year low of 2.7 percent. Food inflation is on decline since May.

The sharp drop in WPI inflation, which fell for the fifth month in a row, came at the back of retail inflation declining to a record low of 5.52 percent in October.
