Uninor To Gain 8% Market Share By 2018
Eyeing an 8% market share by the year 2018, mobile services provider Uninor, a joint venture between realty firm Unitech and Norway-based Telenor, rolled out services in five telecom circles.
Uninor said that it has permissions to commence operations in all the 22 telecommunication circles across the country.
Now, the company has its presence in 13 service regions of India.
The company, which commenced operations in India in December 2009, launched services in Mumbai, Kolkata, Maharashtra and Goa, Gujarat and West Bengal.
Mr. Rohit Chandra, Unitech Wireless' chief operating officer stated, "We have launched our services in almost all the big circles, all the metros except Delhi, and most of the category 'A' circles."
Uninor has five million clients across all the southern states including Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but it is yet to obtain spectrum in Delhi and Assam.
"We are looking at launching in most of the (remaining) circles by 2010-end," Mr. Chandra added. (With Inputs from Agencies)
