Maruti Banks On Good Monsoon To Attain 1 Mln Sales Target
Just as the agriculturists and the administration are hoping, top car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki also is banking on a good monsoon to realize its target of attaining total sales of one million cars in the existing fiscal.
Maruti is eyeing to hit total sales of one million cars in 2010-11 as against 8.7 lakh in 2009-10, and this will mainly hinge upon on two major factors, good monsoon and Union Government's fiscal measures.
While addressing the media persons, Chief General Manager (Marketting) Shashank Srivastava said that the sales figures in April and March this year had been on the right path.
''Last year we did very good sales in rural areas where the growth was very good. This segment nearly doubled to 17 per cent of our total sales against nine per cent in the previous year. We have gained good ground in rural market and we will continue on that this year,'' he said.
Mr. Srivastava also said that the company was also looking to expand at a fast rate in bigger cities that would be equally important for the company to reach the volumes it was eyeing for.
When asked whether the rural market share could go up to 20% in 2010-11, he answered that the overall sales volumes were growing. (With Inputs from Agencies)
