Kevin Macdonald To Direct A Movie On YouTube Videos

Kevin Macdonald Scottish director Kevin Macdonald is going to direct a movie titled Life in a Day, which will be based on the videos submitted by the YouTube users.

English filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott will be producing this unique movie. The Touching The Void director has asked the YouTube users to submit a video of one day of their daily lives on July 24. The submitted videos will be edited together and will be made a documentary, which will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The 42-year old director said that he wanted some real magic, some real gems for this movie. Macdonald hopes that the movie would be able to open the eyes of people to the potential of user generated film.

The Last King of Scotland director added, "I know, I am taking a big risk. It may happen that I don't get anything interesting from them but I don't think it would happen".

Macdonald, who has made films like One Day in September and Being Mick, further added, "This is going to be an experimental film, I am not going to make a mainstream movie".

The users of YouTube with age limit of 13 years and above are allowed to upload their videos for the movie till July 24. The lucky users, whose footage will be included in the movie, will get credit as co-directors. Moreover, 20 lucky users will be flown to the premiere of Sundance by YouTube.
