Kazakhstan "will sell oil to anyone who wants it"
Budapest - Kazakhstan is ready to export oil and gas to any country that wants to buy, the chairman of the Kazakh parliament said in Hungary Wednesday.
Ural Mukhamedzhanov was speaking to the Hungarian state news agency MTI after a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Katalin Szili.
"All that is needed is for governments to agree when, what, and for how much we should deliver," Mukhamedzhanov told MTI.
"In 2015, Kazakhstan will produce 120-150 million tons of crude oil and 70 billion cubic metres of natural gas. The question for now is finding a solution for the delivery of the hydrocarbons," he added.
Szili said that Hungary needs Kazakh oil and gas. "Bilateral meetings such as this can help speed up a Nabucco deal," she added.
The EU hopes the proposed Nabucco pipeline will reduce its dependency on Russian energy by bringing in gas from the Caspian Sea region through Turkey. (dpa)
