Diana-Dodi affair was ‘all over’ before crash
London, Jan 08: Princess Diana told a close friend that her relationship with beau Dodi Al Fayed was “all over”, the inquest into her death has heard.
And, the person to make the claim is Rodney Turner, the director of upper-crust car firm H. R. Owen who supplied Diana with BMW cars from 1995.
Mr Turner, a friend of Diana and her former husband Prince Charles, also told the inquest that there was “unspoken hostility” within the Royal Family when it came to Diana and Dodi’s relationship.
Mr Turner, who described himself as “extreme-ly close in a purely platonic way” admitted that he and Diana ‘occasionally discussed’ her relationships, and that he did not approve of the one she had with Harrods owner Mohammed Fayed’s son.
“We occasionally discussed her relationships. She had a lot of girlfriends she could confide in. But she did talk to me. I did not approve of her relationship but she never said it was her intention to get married,” The Sun quoted him, as telling the inquest.
He admits that though he was shocked to hear she was then going away with Dodi, she reassured him that the relationship was coming to an end.
“It’s all over, don’t fuss, I’ve had a wonderful time.”
He also revealed that the ring Dodi bought Diana “was never to her taste”, and that she thought that his Paris villa was simply ‘awful’.
