KNP will work with like minded people to promote united and independent Kashmir

London, Nov. 13: The Kashmir National Party has strongly condemned the human rights abuse in Kashmir, and said that it is ready to work with like minded people to promote a united and independent Kashmir.

KNP leaders attending an executive council meeting here, said: "Jammu and Kashmir State is one political entity and must remain so whatever the future outcome of the State. The dispute is a political in nature and those who are trying to communalise it are making its resolution more difficult, and they are paving the way for division on religious line."

Election Commission reviews poll arrangements in Kashmir

Chief Election Commissioner N. GopalaswamiSrinagar, Nov 13: Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami has reviewed poll preparedness for Assembly election in Kashmir.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Gopalaswami said everything was in place for a free and fair election. We insist upon free and fair elections. No police, no Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF), no army personnel, will interfere in any manner with the election process.

11 killed in Kashmir road mishap

11 killed in Kashmir road mishapDoda (J-K), Nov 13: At least eleven people were killed and 15 others were injured in a road accident in Doda district on Doda-Kishtwar road in Jammu region on Wednesday.

The accident occurred when a mini bus on its way from Prem Nagar to Doda, skidded off the road and fell into Chinab river in Karada area.

Eyewitnesses said that the overloaded mini-bus plunged into a 150-feet deep gorge and landed in the river waters after hitting several rocks in the gorge.

Rescue teams were immediately pressed into action to pull the passengers out of the river water.

More checks on postings, says Army Chief

Kapoor was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Facing logistical difficulties, Kashmiri traders suspend cross border trade

Srinagar, Nov 11: Facing difficulties in banking arrangements and contact with traders across the border, besides lack of communication facilities, the fruit growers and traders in the Kashmir Valley today decided not to send any new consignments across the Line of Control (LoC), reported satribune. com

Telephone links between the two sides had been jammed by authorities here to obstruct communication channels of separatist guerrillas across the LoC, said the report.
