Jamshedpur Court issues non-bailable warrant against Raj Thackeray

Raj Thackeray Mumbai, Oct. 20 : A court in Jamshedpur on Monday forwarded a non-bailable warrant (NBW) in the name of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to Mumbai police.

The NBW has been issued against Thackeray for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Biharis. Mumbai Police said that the NBW would be executed this week.

Thackeray is presently out of the city.

NHRC reminds Delhi Police to take action in Batla House incident

Delhi PoliceNew Delhi Oct. 20 : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent a fresh reminder to the the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to take appropriate action in the Batla House encounter incident.

The NHRC has urged the Delhi Police to comply with its order of submitting a report to it on the incident within a fortnight.

The Commission has decided to issue reminder to Commissioner of Police, Delhi directing him to transit the post-mortem report of Mohd. Atif, Mohd. Sajid and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and also the inquest reports. He will also inform the Commission:-

India, China FlagLondon, Oct. 20 : Emerging economic powerhouses India and China will be most reluctant support the wider global economy during its downturn phase, as Deutsche Bank survey has warned.

The warning comes as world leaders have agreed to hold a “Bretton Woods (type) meeting for the 21st century” in New York to assess the global economy’s health.

The Deutsche Bank also warned that major industrialised economies will suffer the worst slump since the 1930s, and added that Britain will be more vulnerable than the United States.

MNS Activists Up In Arms Against North Indian Students

Living up to its antics again, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s activists beat up scores of north Indian aspirants appearing for the Railway Recruitment Board entrance exam for the Western region, in Mumbai on Sunday.

They created a rumpus outside examination centres, blocked roads and shouted anti-north Indian slogans. They demanded the recruitment of Marathi people.

“When there is availability here why should people from outside be called?” said MNS general secretary Nitin Sardesai. “They come here and are living on the platforms.”

Vice President, MNS Student's Wing Ashish Jadhav said that Raj Thackeray has demanded 80 per cent reservation for Maharashtrians. If that doesn't happen they will protest.

India cuts short-term lending rate

India cuts short-term lending rateNew Delhi - The central Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Monday lowered its key short-term lending rate (repo) to commercial banks, a move that will spur consumption and help growth amid the global economic slowdown.

"In order to alleviate the pressure and in particular to maintain financial stability, the RBI has decided to reduce the repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility by 100 basis points to 8 per cent with immediate effect," the bank said in a statement.
