No clinical improvement in Dasmunsi, say doctors

Priya Ranjan DasmunsiNew Delhi, Oct. 16 : Doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday said that there was no clinical improvement in the condition of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi, wo was admitted on Monday morning after suffering a severe heart attack.

"He has shown no further clinical improvement. His condition remains to be the same as yesterday," said Dr D K Sharma, the Medical Superintendent of AIIMS.

Girl astride a horse to woo the bridegroom

Moradabad, Oct. 16 : A girl in Moradabad recently created a ruckus of sorts here when she visited her fiancé’s house astride a horse, like an Indian bridegroom, to woo him to marry her.

Though it looked hilarious to many onlookers standing in the streets to watch a girl dressed as a bride but riding a horse as an Indian bridegroom, but Geeta’s side of the story gained public attention.

She complained that her marriage was called off after one year of engagement citing false allegations against her family by her ‘could be in laws’.

Mahabodhi Temple gets an illuminated look

Temple management has spent about 30 million rupees to illuminate the temple, as part of its beautification initiative.

"The implementation was a part of the temple''s beautification. Besides, Bodhgaya is an important place of pilgrimage for the Buddhists and people of other religion as well. From the spiritual point of view, this is a part of offering to the Buddha through illumination," said Nandji Dorjee, secretary, Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee.

Uttar Pradesh’s premier Agro Institute facing neglect

Uttar PradeshKushinagar (Uttar Pradesh), Oct. 16 : The Genda Singh sugarcane breeding and research institute in Sewari in Uttar Pradesh, which was Asia’s second prominent centre for research purposes, has per researchers working there, been a victim of neglect.

It was known for making significant contribution for development and release of new sugarcane varieties, suitable for the agro-climatic zone of the eastern Uttar Pradesh and and Bihar in the early nineties.

Spread over 286.44 acre area, this research centre has developed species like COS—8432,8436, COSE—92422 and 98237.

Patel rules out retrenchment of Air India staff

Praful PatelHyderabad, Oct. 16 :Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said that there will be no retrenchment in Air India.

"I have no information about this. I will be able to say something only after speaking to Air India Chairman. There is not going to be any retrenchment of staff in Air India. I have full sympathy towards Jet Airways workers. But this matter is also being looked into by other departments like the labour department. I will also try to do something about it. But what I said yesterday was because the labour ministry was also looking into it,"said Patel.
