Sonia should apologise: Advani

Sonia, AdvaniThiruvanthapuram, Apr 13 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani on Monday asked Congress President Sonia Gandhi to apologise for her critical remarks on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in a recent election meeting in Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference here, Advani said that he was shocked to hear Gandhi''s statement that, "we are in greater danger from people inside than from foreign terrorists entering India".

Although Sonia Gandhi did not particularly mention a party''s name, Advani said it "substantially accuses us and the comments were clear".

Congress leader and Minister of State for External Affaires, Anand SharmaNew Delhi, Apr 12 : Congress leader and Minister of State for External Affaires, Anand Sharma, on Sunday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani for repeatedly criticizing Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

He further said Advani's own record as Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister had been a disaster.

Case against BJP’s Kandhamal candidate for making hate-speechBhubaneswar, Apr. 11 : A case has been registered against the BJP candidate for Orissa''s Kandhamal seat, Ashok Sahu, for allegedly delivering an inflammatory speech at a public meeting.

"We have registered a case against Sahu. The matter is under investigation," District Superintendent of Police, S. Praveen Kumar, said.

On April 5, Sahu reportedly made a hate speech at a public meeting at Raikia town, in which he accused the church of indulging in conversion.

BJP will emerge as biggest party in elections: Advani

LK AdvaniPatna, Apr 10 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Friday said that his party would emerge as the biggest party in the elections.

“I am certain after going across the country and reading people’s mood that the BJP will emerge as the biggest party in the elections,” Advani told reporters here.

The BJP leader said with several alliance partners of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) deserting it, his party has an advantage in the general elections.

Maneka Gandhi lodges complaint against Lalu for his remarks

Maneka GandhiBadaun (UP), Apr 8 : BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the police here against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad for making derogatory remarks against her son Varun Gandhi.

In a letter to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Badaun), Maneka said: "The RJD chief Lalu Yadav has threatened to kill Varun Gandhi by crushing him with a road roller in front of crowd of thousands of people and used derogatory words."

Shahnawaz Hussain vows to focus on development

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain Bhagalpur, Apr 5 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain has said that he would focus more on development rather than playing caste politics.

Hussain had suffered defeat in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from his home constituency Kishanganj. However, he contested again to win the by-elections from Bhagalpur, defeating the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shakuni Chaudhury.

Hussain said he was confident enough to win the constituency again.
