New Delhi, Mar 31: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has said that the party will speed up foreign investment projects in India if it wins the general election, with business hit by red tape, land protests and lack of government help.
Pilibhit, Mar 29 : Former Union Minister and mother of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi, Maneka Gandhi, on Sunday said registration of cases against her son was part of a `political conspiracy'.
"The registration of cases against Varun is part of a political conspiracy. It is frivolous. Varun is not a criminal. It is incorrect to register cases against him," Maneka told reporter after meeting her son in the district jail.
New Delhi, Mar 29 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday said that the party's decision to reject Election Commission's advice not to field Varun Gandhi for the Lok Sabha Polls, was right.
"The party has taken a correct stand under the law and in accordance with Constitution," Advani said.
He, however, advised the party candidates to show restraint in their speeches.
Pilibhit, March 29 : Pilibhit police on Sunday lodged an FIR against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi for making inflammatory anti-Muslim remarks and creating a riot-like situation in the district.
The Kotwali Police Station has charged Gandhi for making communal remarks and insulting the minority community.
The police have also lodged an FIR against BJP''s election-in-charge for Uttar Pradesh Kalraj Mishra for violating the model code of conduct.
New Delhi - The grandson of late Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi was arrested Saturday on charges of making inflammatory anti-Muslim statements during a campaign event earlier this month.
Varun Gandhi was arrested in northern Uttar Pradesh state for the remarks he allegedly made while campaigning for India's Hindu right- wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in advance of elections later this year.
Gandhi was arrested amid clashes between party workers and the police in his constituency of Pilibhit, about 180 kilometres north- west of Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, the IANS news agency reported.
Pilibhit, Mar 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi, who on Saturday moved a surrender plea in Pilibhit''s local court, has been sent to two-day judicial custody.
The application, which was moved by his lawyers before Chief Judicial Magistrate Vipin Kumar, will be taken up on Monday.
Speaking with journalists outside the Pilibhit court, Varun said: "I am ready to go to jail. I am victim of political conspiracy."
