Iceland's president cancels formal visit to Bangladesh
Dhaka - Iceland's President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson has cancelled a five-day state visit to Bangladesh, diplomatic sources said Tuesday.
Foreign Ministry officials said Iceland's leader was due to arrive in Dhaka from the Beijing Olympics Tuesday to start a formal visit to Bangladesh.
A senior Bangladeshi official, who did not wish be identified, said the visit had been put off indefinitely without assigning any reason.
Grimsson was to chair an international seminar in Dhaka on climate change and hold meetings with his Bangladeshi host President Iajuddin Ahmad and other senior officials in the caretaker government. (dpa)
