Nandan Nilekani, Co-Chairman, Infosys Technologies, while releasing his book 'Imagining India: Ideas for the New Century' at the Reliance Times Out outlet, expressed concern over the Mumbai terror attacks and called it the 'most horrific tragedy seen by India'.

Mr Nilekani said, "It is a very great tragedy and is kind of state of war, but it also shows our institutions have become dysfunctional, be it policing, intelligence; it is very unfortunate. It is very disturbing to see that the solution is not that simple to find. It is a part of challenge which we have to deal with."

Plethico Pharma to Take Over 20% stake in Tricon Holdings arm for $20 mn

A global pharma company with a strong emphasis on herbal and neutralceutical segments, Plethico Pharmaceuticals Ltd, is all set to acquire 20% stake in the Sputnik Regional Aptika Holdings Ltd, a drug retailer in the Commonwealth of Independent States, or CIS, from Hong Kong-based Tricon Holdings Ltd for $20 million (Rs100 crore).

The man's best friend usually has a wet nose and many dog lovers believe in the myth that wet nose is a sign of a healthy dog. However, it has been revealed now that the slimy surface of a canine nose is actually behind their sophisticated sense of smell.

MRI images of a dog's nasal passages were studied by Brent Craven, from Pennsylvania State University and a team, in order to find how air traveled through them. The team reports, "Damp mucus on a dog's nose 'pre-sorts' smells by blocking the passage of some odor particles more than others."

A latest research has brought forward the fact that single mothers spent a lot less time with their children as compared to the married mothers.

The differences were analyzed by Sarah Kendig and Suzanne Bianchi from University of Maryland in the amount and type of time that single, cohabiting, and married mothers spend with their children.

Stephen Hawking, the famous international physicist, has been appointed to the post of distinguished research chair at a quantum theory and cosmology institute founded by Research In Motion co-CEO Mike Lazaridis.

The institute issued a statement, in which it was informed that regular stays would be conducted by Hawking at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, starting in the summer of 2009.
