BCCI Challenges HC Order In The Supreme Court The BCCI has moved the Supreme Court challenging a Calcutta High Court directive to start criminal proceedings against its six top officials on the charge of filing false affidavits in the Jagmohan Dalmiya expulsion case.

President visits Mumbai

President visits MumbaiPresident Pratibha Patil arrived in Mumbai on Monday on a two-day visit in the wake of the terror strike in the city.

She visited the J J hospital and enquired about the health condition of the injured in the blasts.

President is also scheduled to go to the residences of slain ATS chief Karkare and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar.

Patil conveyed her condolences to the victims and said the incident was "an act of terrorism committed by those who have no respect for human life."

Fresh NBW against Raj

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj ThackerayA Jharkhand Court has issued a fresh non-bailable arrest warrant against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.

The NBW was issued after Raj failed to appear in court in connection with a case pertaining to his alleged derogatory remarks over 'chhat' festival.

Judicial Magistrate A K Tiwari issued the warrant and asked the Mumbai police commissioner to execute the order.

Next hearing will be held on 18 Dec.

Raj's counsel argued that he could not appear in person on security grounds.

EC notice to Raje

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje ScindiaThe Election Commission of India has issued notice to Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia for alleged violation of the model electoral code of conduct.

The notice was issued on Monday and the Commission sought her reply by Tuesday evening.

The notice against Scindia came after the Commission took cognizance of a report in Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar that she gave Rs.500 to a child of Hunari Bai of village Bharia Mahuda in an election campaign meeting held at Chhoti Sarwan in Banswara district Nov 25 to solicit votes.

205 candidates for Mizoram poll

The fate of 205 candidates to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly will be decided on Tuesday as the state goes to poll with security beefed-up along state's sensitive border.

The 722-km international border along Bangladesh and Myanmar has been sealed, as also the borders with Manipur, Assam and Tripura.

Most of the polling booths in border areas are classified as hyper-sensitive or sensitive and additional state police personnel were deployed along the borders, especially with Manipur and Assam. Besides, the BSF and the Assam Rifles are manning international borders.

Bradman Cap Is All Set To Break Auction RecordA baggy green cap worn by late Sir Don Bradman during the 1948 'invincibles' Ashes Tour is all set to fetch a record-breaking 600,000 Australian dollars when it goes under the hammer at an auction here on December 15.

The cap was bought by one Tim Serisier after he won $250,000 in reality show ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’. Serisier now wants to auction the cap and though auctioneer Charles Leski says a better timing could have fetched a higher price, the piece of record can still invite a bulky bid in the range of $600,000 to 750,000.
