Washington, Apr. 25 : The commander of US forces in the Middle East has claimed that the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group is planning to carry out more attacks similar to one launched on Mumbai in November last year.

The Daily Times quoted CENTCOM chief General David Petraeus as telling lawmakers here: "We should observe that the Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group that carried out the Mumbai attacks, we think they're trying to do more damage and they're trying to carry out additional attacks."

A new study has revealed that a type of vitamin B1 could become a new as well as effectual treatment for one of the world’s major causes of blindness.

University of Texas Medical Branch researchers think that 10 to 15% of blindness cases in the US take place because of uveitis, a swelling of the tissue positioned just below eyeball’s external surface.

Moreover, the researchers also said that it produces even higher rates of blindness all through the world.

London, Apr 25 : In a breakthrough study, California researchers have successfully grown blood vessels from kidney patients' own skin cells, a development that will increase the ease and safety of dialysis.

The researchers hope that the new technique can one day be used to grow internal organs as well.

It is the first complex bioengineered tissue part built without synthetic components.

Earlier, the bioengineers have only been able to grow sheet-like tissue such as skin from cells alone.

Lahore, Apr. 25 : US Special Representative on Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke has said there is no evidence that India is supporting violence in Pakistan.

"If the Indians were supporting those miscreants in Pakistan that would be extraordinarily bad, really dangerous, but they are not doing so. There is no evidence that Indians are support miscreants in western parts of Pakistan or in Balochistan," the Daily Times quoted Holbrooke as saying in an interview with a private TV channel.
