Lahore, Jan. 13 : In a fresh blow to the attempts of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to revive hockey activities on home soil, the Malaysian Hockey Federation
(MHF) has turned down an invitation from the PHF to participate in a hockey series.

According to the spokesman of the PHF the Malaysian hockey has refused to tour Pakistan citing `some internal problems'.

"The PHF was waiting for a final decision but the MHF officials have turned down our request saying that they have yet to appoint a foreign coach for their team and above

Lahore, Jan 12 : Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif would have been Pakistan President right now if he had approached his party after the February 18 elections.

Speaking during a luncheon hosted by the PML-Q for the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) office-bearers, Shujaat said the process of unification between various factions of the Muslim League was in progress, adding any alliance should be made on the basis of equality.

Lahore, Jan 12: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said that the allegations levelled by India against Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks are regrettable, as Pakistanis strongly condemn terrorism in its all forms.

Talking to Canada's High Commissioner in Pakistan Randolph B Mank, Sharif said India had launched a vilification campaign against Pakistan all over the world that had led to further deterioration in bilateral relations.

Lahore, Jan 12 : Former cricketer and chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has called on the PML-N chairman Nawaz Sharif here at the latters' residence at Raiwind to discuss the possibility of a new alliance on a one-point agenda of the reinstatement of deposed judges.

Both leaders on Sunday agreed to convene a national conference on the issue, The Nation reported.

Lahore, Jan. 11 : Chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that after the November26 Mumbai terror attacks Pakistan seems no longer a sovereign state.

While leveling allegations against the present regime of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the fundamentalist leader said: “The government has failed completely to protect the sovereignty of country.”

Ahmad lambasted the Pakistan government for blindly supporting the policies of the United States.

“The present government is a ‘U. S. colony’, which complies with U. S. orders blindly,” The News quoted Ahmad, as saying.

Lahore, Jan. 10 : In order to gain control over a large part of the country, the Taliban is expanding its influence outside its traditional strongholds in the tribal areas as well, The Daily Times reported.

"The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is expanding its influence outside the Tribal Areas and has recently appointed leaders in the settled areas of the country," the Daily Times quoted reports from BBC Urdu, as saying.

The Taliban is also in the process of establishing its own rule, and laws in the areas where it has established a tight grip.
