Lahore, Jan 19 : Pakistan's former National Security Adviser (NSA) Mahmoud Ali Durrani has said that he could not convince the United States that Pakistan is not a breeding ground for terrorists.

Responding to allegations that he had been too close a `friend' of India and the US, Durrani said he had only forged stronger relations with the two to work in Pakistan's interest.

He said apart from the US and the United Kingdom, China and several other countries also played an important role in defusing the Indo-Pak tensions after the Mumbai attacks.

Durani did not comment when asked if Pakistan had made preparations to counter US drone attacks in the Tribal Areas bordering Afghanistan, the Daily Times reported.

Lahore, Jan 19: Pakistan Prime Minister Yosuf Raza Gilani's Interior Adviser Rehman Malik has conveyed a "special message" from President Asif Zardari to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, and discussed the lawyers' long march, seeking Sharif's support on the issue.

Malik also discussed the Punjab Governor's controversial statements, a disqualification case against the Sharif brothers and bills for undoing the 17th Amendment.

Lahore/Islamabad, Jan. 17 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked India to respond positively to the crackdown being carried out by Pakistan on the terrorist outfits.

According to The Daily Times, Nawaz Sharif met with the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Satyabrata Pal, and said that India should respond positively to steps being taken by Pakistan with regards to the Mumbai terror attacks.

Lahore, Jan 16 : Retired Air Marshal and Tehreek-e-Istaqlal chief, Asghar Khan anticipates military intervention sooner than later, as the present Pakistan Government has failed miserably during its nearly yearlong rule.

Addressing the general house of the Lahore High Court Bar Association on Thursday, Khan said the present situation in the country is of serious concern, as performance of the rulers is almost nil.

Lahore, Jan 16 : Pakistan National Assembly member and son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Captain (retired) Mohammad Safdar, has asked President Asif Ali Zardari to quit as he has failed to honour the commitments made to the people.

Safdar was in Mardan to attend a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz wherein Farooq Khan Hoti, son of Federal Minister Khwaja Muhammad Khan Hoti belonging to the Awami National Party announced that he was joining PML-N, The News reported.

Addressing a meeting of the PML-N workers at Hoti, Mardan, Safdar said Zardari should step down, as he could not live up to the expectations of the people, and had failed to fulfil the commitments made to the masses during electioneering.

Lahore, Jan 16 : The Indian `dossier of evidence' provided to Pakistan on the Mumbai terror attacks on November 26 alleges that all 10 gunmen involved in the attacks were Pakistani nationals, nine from the Punjab province and one from the North West Frontier Province.

The Mumbai attackers were in the age group of 21 to 28 years, according to the information in the dossier based on Indian investigation of the attacks and interrogation of the lone surviving gunman Ajmal Kasab, the Daily Times reported.
